Delete IG Account | End Your IG Journey

In some cases, you may want to close your IG account. This can happen because one or more of the following points:

• You’re not able to trade anymore
• You find that the IG broker is not suitable for you after some time trading.
• You don’t want to be charged with inactivity fees and have no intention to come back.

For these reasons and more, IG provides an option to delete your account permanently.

Note:

You’ll pay a $18 fee on the first of every month if you’ve not used your account to deal for two years or more.

Steps to Delete Your Account

1. To delete your account properly you should firstly withdraw your money in the account.

IG provides several withdrawal options as the table shows below.

IG does not charge withdrawal fees, but at the same time, there’s a minimum withdrawal applied of $150, unless you have less than $150 available on your account. In this situation, you can withdraw up to the amount available.

There’s also a minimum withdrawal amount applied according to the base currency you have as shown below.

1. The next step will be to write to IG to request to close your account.

Before doing so, make sure there are no open positions left on your account and withdraw all remaining funds.

Then email helpdesk.en@ig.com with your request from the registered email address on your account.

Alternatively, you can use another email address with your request and include the following details for security:

• Your full name and date of birth
• Your registered postal address
• Your phone number
• The balance on your IG account
• The market you last traded
• The last four digits of your registered card(s)

This is a sample of the email you can send to IG in order to delete your account.

Dear IG Team,

I have an account in your database with the name …… and the email address that is linked to the account is ……….

Meanwhile, for some reasons, I have decided not to use the account again,

therefore I request that you kindly delete my account from your database and

also wipe all notifications if any.

Note:

Please note that the demo account is deleted automatically after a specific period of time, but you need to close your live account if you want to be not charged with any inactivity fees.
