In some cases, you may want to close your TD Ameritrade account. This can happen because one or more of the following points:

• You’re not able to trade anymore
• You find that TD Ameritrade broker is not suitable for you after some time trading.
• You have no intention to come back.

For these reasons and more, TD Ameritrade provides an option to delete your account permanently.

Note:

TD Ameritrade does not charge any inactivity fee for traders who are not active for a while.

Steps to delete your TD Ameritrade Account

1. To delete your account properly you should firstly withdraw your money in the account and sell your current investment. Then, transfer your money to your bank or to another broker. Please note, you might be charged with withdrawal fees in this process.

To withdraw your money, you have 2 options: ACH or bank transfer.

Note:

The only option available for non-US clients is by bank transfers anly.

The withdrawal process takes 2 business days in the best case scenario except for the bank transfers that may take several business days. There’s also a fee of $25 for withdrawals using bank transfers.

Please note that the demo account is deleted automatically after a specific period of time, but you need to close your live account if you want to be not charged with any inactivity fees.
